My good friend Emma and I popped into Floriditas for the first time for Monday breakfast on our day off. What we found impressed us, a lot. The first thing that greeted us as we walked through the doors were friendly staff stationed at a well-lit counter piled with enticing baked goods. We were lucky it was a Monday morning, the cafe wasn't as busy and we were able to pick our seats in the corner on comfortable leather seats. The place was very spacey, unusual for a cafe in central Wellington who are usually struggling for rent space. From the vintage teacups to the decors inside, the cafe gave off a classy aristocratic feel. Emma even commented that the leather seats smelled genuine, and for once it wasn't sticky or all scratched up. You can certainly tell the staff had made a point to keep the place tidy and clean for its patrons.

A well-lit and spacious cafe, ideal for a day inside on a gloomy wet day.

The cafe was also warm and cozy, perfect for staying dry on a wet gloomy day. The quiet, well-lit space and power plugs provided on the walls meant you could potentially set up shop there to get some work done or read the morning paper should you wish to.

A beautiful chandelier to give the cafe some class.

The staff at Floriditas were also professional but approachable. We were served quickly once we were seated. To our delight, the breakfast menu offered a scrumptious range of nutritious and organic options. It was also very nice to discover the cafe made a point to support local and national producers in New Zealand. The available breads and treats were also freshly baked by their own bakery on the nearby Swan Lane. A good selection of barista made coffee and beverages were also on offer, including Bloody Mary, Italian cocktails and sparkling wines for those with a more refined taste in the mornings. We made our decisions quickly and were certainly not disappointed when our orders were delivered.

My hot chocolate and Emma's flat white; both equally delicious.

Our choice of breakfast: 5 Grain toast with Peanut cashew and almond butter AND Blue Borage Honey.

The toast we selected were absolutely divine. It was the perfect temperature and toasted just right. The toast itself was delicious and full of nutty aromas. The butter melted instantly on contact. In the end I opted to copy Emma by heaping on all three spreads together onto the breads. It was mouth-watering bite after bite. Next time I will ask for a topping of banana slices, I believe they will be gorgeous together.

I will definitely go back to the cafe in the future to try other listings on the menu. I am happy to have found a nice quality cafe that I can spend some time in, whether it be by myself working or reading, or catching up with friends. If you are ever in Wellington and looking for a nice cafe to unwind in, Floriditas should definitely be on your list.
